  • Study purpose: Liquid mixing: characterization of a specific geometry (tank/bag + mixer) mixing capacity in relation with a specific liquid
  • Description: During the study will be performed monophasic simulations for a specific geometry with one liquid, at different mixer rotational speeds and/or liquid levels
  • CFD Results:
    • Flow patterns (velocities, mass fluxes, etc.)
    • Power (mixer torque, power, power number)
    • Turbulence (turbulent kinetic energy, turbulent disipation rate)
    • Shear stress patterns
    • Mixing time for different inlet port positions (the time for the same type of liquid to be dispersed in the entire volume, starting from the inlet region)
  • Analysis:
    • Power analysis – Calculating the power numbers, Re number, plotting the power curves; Comparisons with the data available in the literature
    • Flow patterns analysis – Output of velocities and fluxes contours for different vertical and horizothal planes; Comparisons with the data available in the literature
    • Turbulence analysis – Output of turbulent kinteic energy and disipation rate contours; Calculation of the min, max and averages values; Comparisons with the data available in the literature;
